Food Sampling:

Gordon orders stuffed mushrooms, Monte Cristo and a medium Casa Roma deluxe pizza. In the kitchen chef, Erick mocks Gordon. For half an hour chef Erick does not cook any food, passing comments and roaming around. In the meantime, Gordon is waiting, he changes the seat of his booth, he jogs around the dining area and finally takes a nap. Finally, Ashley brings him food. First dish stuffed mushrooms are soggy, bland and filled with water. Gordon shows Ashley the excessive fat in Monte Cristo by squeezing it in front of her. The pizza is thick and has a raw base.

After the food sampling, Gordon gathers the staff to share his feedback. Chef Erick defends his food by saying he did not know who the food was for. Nylah cuts him and says that it does not matter who is having food, it should be the same. Before Gordon can share his feedback, Erick walks out of the area. Gordon goes out in the parking area where Erick is smoking. Erick tells him that if Gordon lets him re-do the food, it will be good.

Gordon meets Nylah’s other son Jimmy in the kitchen, who is in the construction business. During dinner service, kitchen starts off very slow as chefs are not talking to each other. Food is coming back because it is undercooked or raw. One hour into the dinner, many appetizers are sent back to the kitchen and only one table has got the entrees, they do not like it. Gordon stops the service as no food is going out and both chefs are not sending food out on time.

Gordon talks to Nylah after the shutdown and tells her that there is no use of a chef who cannot cook the basics. He asks her to cut the baggage and give Drew a chance instead of relying on Erick. Nylah fires chef Erick. Gordon sits down with the owner and her sons and tells them that tomorrow they work together and Drew needs to step up.

Kitchen Inspection:

The next day, Gordon arrives early to inspect the kitchen and the freezer. He finds food covered in mold and there are heaps of old food. He is disgusted by the state of the freezer and throws up. He performs the neon light test in the bathroom and finds it very dirty. Owners and chef arrive at the restaurant and he shows them the state of the walk-in. All are surprised by the state of the kitchen. He then shows neon test to Nylah. There are loads of food rotting in the kitchen also, Gordon makes them clean the whole kitchen.

Gordon spends some time with chef Drew and asks him to make his signature pizza, Gordon bakes the thin crust and one frozen pizza. Nylah and Jeremy taste the pizza and choose Drew’s and Gordon’s thin crust. Gordon is happy as they reject the frozen one.

Relaunch:

Gordon’s team take one whole day to give a makeover to the restaurant, adding a bit of Italian touch to this old Italian restaurant. The owners and the staff love the new decor very much. Nylah is happy because now the bar and the restaurant are integrated with one theme. Gordon tells them, before launch, that they will be holding first ever Casa Roma pizza eating competition.

The next day, 5 minutes pizza eating contest starts and people have gathered to cheer the contestants. Four hours before the relaunch, Gordon shows the staff dishes from the new menu, all are impressed with the menu changes.

On the relaunch night, customers start arriving at the restaurant. Nylah’s son Jimmy is helping Drew out in the kitchen. One table returns food two times because it is undercooked, that frustrates Gordon. Calzone’s size that Jimmy is baking is huge, Gordon asks him to cut down on size. Drew is under pressure and kitchen gets backed up. Drew takes a break to regroup, and then in a dramatic turnaround takes control of the kitchen. Orders now are moving out much faster. Customers love the food and relaunch is a success. Gordon tells them that he is happy with the turnaround and now they need to keep up the good work.

What happened next?

One year after the relaunch, Gordon revisits Casa Roma, Lancaster. Chef Drew is not there anymore. Gordon is surprised to see Q (Chef in one other restaurant Gordon relaunched - Sebastian’s). Gordon talks with Q about Sebastian’s, Q tells Gordon that one day owner just disappeared. Gordon checks the walk-in freezer and the kitchen and place are clean.

After Gordon’s revisit, Casa Roma abandoned Gordon’s menu and switched back to the old menu. Casa Roma was renamed to The AV Roadhouse restaurant Bar and Grill with a slim-lined menu. Casa Roma closed in mid-2015. A big change happened when a local restaurant Nico’s was taken over and all of the staff and menu came in the restaurant.

The restaurant was renamed again to CR Roadhouse(Yelp profile in the resources). There are rumors that the owners are leaving fake reviews on Yelp (There are around 13 hidden comments on CR Roadhouse profile- (Hidden reviews in the resources)). Online reviews for the place are bad.

Due to multiple misleading online profiles, we do not know if Nylah is still the owner/Part-owner of the place or not. One of her profile suggests that she is self-employed and working as Freelance Writer/Blogger.
