Food Sampling:

Gordon arrives at the restaurant and is blown away by the tropical theme and decor. He orders an ahi tuna appetizer, a tiki platter and the flaming tsunami, a filet mignon cooked on a tile. Ahi tuna appetizer is very spicy and Gordon sends it back for the chef to taste it. Tiki platter is bad and Gordon spits it out. Gordon is amazed to see filet mignon served tableside from a tile. Gordon finds filet mignon very tough and chewy. Gordon goes into the kitchen to meet the chef. Chef says he is not happy with the food but he is not allowed to make any change in the menu.

For the dinner service, the restaurant is fully packed, Gordon returns to witness the kitchen during the dinner service. As tickets start reaching the kitchen, chef Brian gets exposed and kitchen falls behind the orders. The chef goes out of the kitchen for a break. Gordon follows him and tells him that as owners are not having any clue, Gordon and chef has to work together. With renewed confidence, the chef gets back into the kitchen and starts pushing the orders.

Gordon is worried about Bill as he is overworked and is handling tableside serving of filet mignon. After a dismal dinner service, Gordon sits down with Adele and Cheryl and makes them aware of Bill’s condition. Adele says that Bill generally does not have much work so it is okay for him to push food cart during food service. Cheryl still claims that she does not see anything wrong with the setup which frustrates Gordon and he leaves for the day.

The next day, thinking to bridge the gap between the owners and the staff, Gordon assembles the whole staff and owners for a staff meeting. However, Adele takes every input personally and defends her actions. Gordon asks chef Brian to make something of his liking which can go as specials at the dinner service. Bill likes to cook meatloaf, Gordon asks him to do so. Gordon tells them that both dishes will go as specials in the dinner menu.

At dinner service, while the specials are a big hit, old food meets mediocre comments from the customers. Gordon tells Cheryl that old menu is not letting the kitchen work effectively. After the dinner service, Gordon reveals that the restaurant needs a big change for it to become a success. Adele does not like it. Gordon asks everyone to grab tropical theme chairs and things and follow him, they dump everything in a truck including tropical theme alligator “Willy”.

All of the staff and owners follow the truck and they reach an open area where all the tropical stuff is piled up. Gordon tells Adele that only way the tropical stuff does not come back is to burn it completely and he ignites the piled up tropical dump. While the whole staff is happy, Adele is quite upset and she starts crying.

Relaunch:

Gordon’s team give a makeover to the restaurant overnight, removing all old clutter and adding some freshness to the overall vibe. The tropical theme interiors are gone and are replaced by a modern touch. Gordon reveals the new name of the restaurant “The Junction”. Everyone like the new changes but Adele is heartbroken with such a drastic change. She does not like it, Gordon tries to comfort her. Gordon hands over the new menu to them, Adele thinks it as too limited and people are not going to come for this limited menu. Gordon again tries to convince her with the changes. Gordon reveals the new dishes, everyone apart from Adele like them.

At the relaunch, everyone is positive about the changes and the new menu, but, Adele is still not on board. Customers start arriving and they like the new decor. Chef Brian is able to send out dishes in a timely manner and customers are happy with the food. Gordon finds that Adele still is negative and talking to the customer about her apprehensions.

Adele does not like what she is doing and she is not proud of the changes. She is ready to leave, Gordon talks to Bill to persuade Adele. Bill helps to tone down Adele and she starts communicating with the customers. By the end of the service, Adele also realizes that there is a hope in the new setup and happy. Despite the new changes, chef Brian and staff work as a team and relaunch is a success.
