Kitchen Nightmares (US) S05E11: Kitchen Nightmares Revisited #7

The eleventh episode of season 5 is dedicated to the revisits to the restaurants featured in season 4. Roughly after 1 year of the relaunch, Gordon revisits the restaurant for a quick update and catchup. Gordon covers 4 restaurants in this #revisited edition of Kitchen Nightmares.

1. Spanish Pavillion, Harrison, New Jersey

Gordon enters the restaurant from the back door and walks in to the walk in freezer. Storage area is clean, food is labelled and stocked nicely. Gordon is also happy to see limited food stock in food freezer. Gordon enters the kitchen and meets Jerry, who looks surprised to see Gordon. Jerry tells Gordon that business is doing great but Michael is no longer working in the restaurant as he joined managerial position with a food chain. Jerry also tells Gordon that his mom is taking break for a bit but sadly his grandfather passed away, which is the only bad news for the booming business. Business is up 10-15% for past 2-3 months, Jerry tells Gordon.

Gordon check the aquarium for any dead lobster but is happy to see clean aquarium with all lobsters alive. Gordon tastes the food and finds it delicious. Gordon talks to the food server Joe, who tells that they do not miss Michael and business is going good. Gordon is happy to see Jerry carrying forward the legacy his grandfather left behind him.

Update : The restaurant is still open as of July 2020, it was nice to see COVID menu & delivery on Spanish Pavillion’s website.

2. Kingston Cafe, Pasadena, California

Gordon meets Dr. Morris, she tells Gordon that Keone is no longer part of the restaurant. As per Dr. Morris, Keone left for studies and that is good thing for him. Gordon also come to know that all of the staff which was present during relaunch is gone and Dr. Morris has replaced the staff with new Chef as well has front house staff. Gordon tastes the food and likes it. Dr. Morris tells Gordon that business is up by 20% and is going in right direction. Gordon visits the kitchen to meet the new chef. He also checks the freezer and storage is happy to find that plastic wraps are no more.

Update: On 1st August 2018, they closed down the restaurant and kept catering open. In mid 2017, it appeared that the business was slowing down as they operated limited weekend hours from Thursday through Saturday.

3. La Frite, Sherman Oaks, California

Gordon is greeted by Celine when he enters the restaurant. Gordon and Celine sit down and discuss the state of the restaurant, Business is doing good. Gordon meets Alex and Andre and sits down the eat. He likes the food and moreover he likes the synergy between the siblings. Gordon is happy to see positive change in the owners.

Update : The restaurant was bought by George Zaoui in July 2016 and was rebranded as Modo Mio Cucina Rustica, an Italian restaurant in September 2017.

4. Capri, Los Angeles, California

Gordon meets Jeff who was running the front of the house. Jeff goes emotional after seeing Ramsay. Gordon was happy to see full cafe and positive vibe of the restaurant. Gordon meets Jim who was handling the service in the kitchen. Gordon sits down with the twins, they tell Gordon that business is up 20% after the relaunch. Gordon tries the pizza and meatball slider and he loves the food. At the end of the visit, Capri restaurant gets recognized by local Chamber of Commerce for their service.
